2012 Reading Challenges

These are the challenges that I’m participating in this year. My goal is to completely finish at least half of the challenges, or complete at least half of each. This page will be updated at least once a month.

Goodreads Challenge

Last year I read 300 some books out of the 500 books I wanted to read. Keep in mind, 99% of these books are manga (I’m determined to find the perfect manga series, I tell you). This year I’m still aiming high with 450 books as my goal.

Off the Shelf

Last year I participated in this challenge and was only able to complete a third of my goal (my goal was 30 books). This year I’m going to halve my goal and attempt to read 15. Most of these books are classics and e-books that have been sitting in my iTunes library for quite a while. I recently got a new iPod so now I can actually read them.

Support Your Local Library

I think I’m going to enjoy this challenge the most. A lot of the books I read are from the library. I love going to the library! If I could, I’d gladly spend an entire day in one (my parents are always rushing whenever we go). My goal is level four, 37+ books. More specifically my goal is 50 books. I did it once a couple of years ago so I can definitely do it again.

Level 4 (37+ books)

  1. Children of the Sea (Volume 4) by Daisuke Igarashi

YA Historical Fiction

I’m going to admit, I’m a sucker for historical fiction. Bonus points if it’s YA as well. Seems like this challenge is almost perfect for me! I think I’m going to aim for 5 books because I honestly don’t read too much of this genre (sadly).

A-Z Challenge

This is possibly the most interesting challenge that I have seen (so far). The goal is to read books that start with every single letter of the alphabet. I imagine I’ll have to do some hunting for some of the harder letters (Q, X, Y, Z). Of course, I’m doing it the lazy way.
