Meme: Anything Goes on Saturday #1 – Otafest

This is a new meme called “Anything Goes on Saturday” hosted by Yvonne @ Socrates’ Book Reviews. It’s a chance to choose any topic you want and talk about it on Saturday – it can be about a book, TV show, movie, a recipe or just an update on your week. Whatever you choose.

This Saturday will be dedicated to Otafest. Otafest is an anime (Japanese animation) convention held in my city. In about 50 days, Otafest will be in it’s 13th year! This year will be my first time going. Every year for four years, I’d say I would go but then it would slip my mind and I would forget. Not this year! This year, Otafest is bringing a special guest: a Japanese rock band! It’s an accomplishment, as I think the band will be one of the very first Japanese bands playing in my city.

I’ve only ever heard of one another Japanese band that came but that was years ago! I can’t miss this opportunity! To make things better, I’m actually a fan of this band! They didn’t pick an extremely obscure indie band! The band is called “the fool”. Their style mostly compromises of electronic, and techno rock. They’re music is super crazy and cute, my favourite combination! They seem like a band that’s better live so I can’t wait to see them. Finally, Canadian cities other than Toronto and Vancouver are getting some Japanese bands! Maybe now I’ll be slightly more hopeful if and/or when I hear the words “Canadian tour”.
